The UAE is all set to eliminate the Hepatitis C virus (HCV) by the year 2030. The agenda set for this program is to detect and diagnose HCV in patients at an early stage by spreading awareness among healthcare professionals and the common man. According to the WHO reports, among the 170 million HCV carriers around the world, the highest prevalence of the disease is present in the Middle East and North African regions. Furthermore, the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has estimated that the prevalence of HCV in the UAE ranges from 0.24 β 1.64% with up to 70% of the patients remaining undiagnosed.
