Highlights Many studies were described previously to analyze the triggers of ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI); however, respiratory infectious incidences are not well reported. This study aims to understand the role of recurrent influenza season on STEMI care and investigate whether the pandemic caused decreased STEMI admissions, treatment delay, and overwhelmed the medical system. The viral infection was not found to delay the treatment or increase the mortality rate. However, both the diseases showed a trend towards increased patient-related delay. Prolonged delay in the door-to-balloon time was reported during the COVID-19 pandemic. Appropriate strategies are necessary to minimize this delay and improve the healthcare facility to prevent fatalities.
