World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that one in ten medical products in developing countries like India is either below standard or completely falsified. As per the report, people are ingesting medications that cannot prevent them from any diseases. Such “good for nothing” medications are not only a waste of money for individuals and government sector hospitals that buy them, but they cause a real threat to the health of the general population.
According to WHO research, the types of falsified medical products range from cancer treatment to contraception. Although WHO has received only 2% complaints about south-east Asian countries so far, the experts are sure that this percentage is just ‘the tip of the iceberg’ and the actual condition in the countries like India is far more serious.
