I came across the news several times that a cervical cancer vaccine is getting much opposition from a political party. Even after reading from various sources, the reason behind this opposition is unclear to me. The newspapers report that the concerned HPV vaccine is mainly used in the private sector and a single dose costs around Rs 3000. As far as my knowledge is concerned, the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization should take this decision.
I don’t understand what a political party has to do with it. Can anyone please elaborate?
