Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a rare neurological disorder that is more prevalent in men and may affect at any age. While only 10% of the disease occurrence is influenced by genetic factors, a majority of the cases are caused by environmental ones. Recent studies have found an association between diesel fumes and ALS, with diesel fumes increasing the risk of the disease by 45%. A recent finding has shown that diesel exhaust fumes can increase the risk of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
This study comes as a follow up of findings published in 2013 that stated that people with occupational exposure to diesel fumes, like truck drivers, construction workers, service station attendants etc., have an increased risk of suffering from ALS.
