Synopsis Female pattern hair loss (FPHL) is a common cause of non-scarring alopecia seen in women. Although its relationship to androgenic hormone is not well established, some evidence reported the efficacy of oral finasteride. In order to minimize unwanted effects especially in the long-term administration of oral finasteride, a topical formulation of finasteride has been proposed as a promising candidate for FPHL.
The present study compares the efficacy and safety of topical 0.25% finasteride combined with 3% minoxidil solution and 3% minoxidil solution as monotherapy in the treatment of female pattern hair loss.
