Synopsis Hypertension being the most common disorder during pregnancy, complicates one in ten pregnancies. Severe hypertension during pregnancy is defined by a systolic blood pressure of 160 mm Hg or a diastolic pressure of 110 mm Hg. This clinical sign is considered as an emergency for both mother and fetus. Women with hypertensive disorders during pregnancy are at a greater risk for the development of cardiovascular diseases .
