A 32-year-old pregnant female presented with ulcers and blisters on her lower lip. She had been suffering from the ulcerations for the last 2 days after a bout of fever almost 3 days ago. She had encountered such lesions 2 or 3 months back but they had healed without any treatment. Most of the intraoral blisters had ruptured on their own and no other blisters were noted elsewhere on her body. She had no other significant family history.
She was in the 3 rd trimester of her first pregnancy. Her vital signs were within normal range but an examination of lymph nodes showed bilateral submandibular lymphadenopathy. Lymph nodes were mobile, firm and tender in consistency and less than a centimeter in diameter. Oral examination revealed multiple vesicles with scab formation.
