Lymphadenopathy is a typical clinical finding with an extensive differential diagnosis. Indifferently developed lymph nodes could be found in healthy adults, especially in the cervical region, and are common without clinical importance. In one series of 543 patients referred by their primary care specialists for further assessment of distressing lymphadenopathy, 17.5% had a major malignant disorder, with 11.4% having a lymphoproliferative concern and 6.1% having a solid metastatic tumor. 31% of those patients had benign reactive lymphadenopathy, and 26% had indiscriminate non-neoplastic diseases.
