A 14-year-old boy who had been suffering from low-grade fever, cough, congestion, and sore throat for a week, presented to the hospital with symptoms of septic shock. Two days before admission, he developed swelling and ulceration of his lips along with bilateral conjunctivitis. When the patient presented to the hospital, he was hypotensive, febrile and tachycardic. Intravenous fluids were given to the patient along with continuous dopamine.

The patient had suffered from similar symptoms 4 years ago, but no laboratory tests had been performed and the patient had been discharged with supportive care. His father reported that he too had suffered from similar symptoms in his adolescence, which had resolved spontaneously in 3 months.
