Patient Case A 15-year old female presented to her regular pediatrician Dr. P with complaints of left thigh pain. The patient reported she had run a mile during her recent physical education class. Dr. P, after assessing the patient’s condition prescribed Ibuprofen and ordered an X-ray of the femur. The results of the X-ray was found to be negative, but still, he advised his patient not to participate in her physical education class for another 2 weeks.

After around four months , the patient returned to Dr. P with complaints of pain in the back of her thigh. A diagnosis of muscle spasm was made by Dr. P, and he treated the patient with another dosage of Ibuprofen. In the meanwhile, laboratory examination of the patient was initiated, the results of which revealed a slightly elevated sedimentation rate and elevated enzyme levels.
