Yesterday, I came across a WhatsApp message about the untimely death of 40 yrs young doctor, Director of critical care medicine at MIOT due to a massive heart attack without any warning signs. Recently, I happened to participate in a MET  workshop. On the last day, there were interactive sessions on ethics. The object of one of the topics was to sensitize doctors that  "They should work 24/7". While the moderator and other resource persons were driving the point down into the participants, I begged to differ. There was a sense of disapproval on the stand taken by me. My argument was: 1.

Did any of you ever come across a doctor (not those private practitioners )who worked 24/7? 2. If the answer was Yes, the next question was how long did he/ she work 24/7 ? one weak, month, year, or throughout 40 yrs of career? 3. Among the above categories who do you think 100% ethical? One doctor…
